Villa in Paradise Unawatuna, Sri Lanka

We are Maureen and Roger Taylor, an English couple who originate from Yorkshire but have lived worldwide for many years.

We happened upon this villa 5 years ago,whilst on holiday here and decided to buy. Seemed like a good idea at the time!!!

Our first season was very quiet apart from a frantic visit by the `Barmy Army` who were supporting the English cricket team, playing Sri Lanka at Galle Stadium.

During their stay a stray dog adopted us and was named Fred (after Fred Flintoff). He is now part of the family along with Emma,a new puppy.

Our second season was very promising with a fully booked season, until 26th December 2004. We were serving breakfast and heard the commotion and loud roar of the sea. We evacuated over 100 tourists and some injured locals to the villa and fed and watered them for 3 days until the British High Commission transported them to Colombo and then to the airport. We were the highest posted site on Lonely Planet Forum as we monitored and listed both survivors and victims of the tsunami.

This season has been somewhat quiet but signs are that it will improve.

We are ably assisted by Nuwan , who prepares breakfast and cleans the rooms etc. . Also Gunaratna who is both caretaker and gardener. We are hindered by Fred and Emma.

Our aim is to help make your stay here a happy one and we are only too pleased to assist in any way we can.
