Sri Lanka tours by Villa in Paradise

A fine selection of nice trips and wonderful Ayurvedic massage with herbal treatments are likely to turn your stay in Sri Lanka into an amazing tropical experience.

Our morning trip starts at around 7.30am. We leave by Tuk-Tuk and first stop is Koggola Lake.

There we take a catamaran canoe to Temple Island and Cinnamon Island. There are many species of birds and also monitor lizards lurking in the mangrove trees.

Temple Island has a school for young monks and they live there from age 10 to 18. There is a Buddhist temple with brightly painted murals that depict the history of Buddhism.

Then to Cinnamon Island where the process of farming has not changed in hundreds of years. You will be offered Cinnamon tea and both the Cinnamon sticks and powder are available to buy.

On returning to land you are shown round a spice garden and you can purchase Ayurvedic oils including Lime Oil .

A few drops of this is said to 'Decrease of Fatty'

We then take a short trip to South Beach Hotel where we have Sri Lankan breakfast. There you will be served Stringhoppers (fine noodle nest) with fish curry , dhal, coconut sambal plus fresh fruit juice and tea/coffee.

Then we visit the stilt fishermen who are unique to this part of Sri Lanka. Photo opportunities allow the fishermen to catch not only fish but also tourist rupees.

Our final (and some say) best visit is to a Turtle Conservation Project. There you will see the whole process from egg to newly hatched babies to fully grown turtles. There is an opportunity to release baby turtles to the sea. For this they ask for a small donation to the project. This trip usually ends at around 1pm. Cost per person including transport, boat trip, breakfast and Turtle Project entry is Rs 3000 (£13.50)
